Verizon is currently launching an update to the Interactive Media Guide (IMG) for all FiOS TV users nationwide. Depending on where you live, you'll soon have access to the following new features and enhancements.
Multi-Room Digital Video Recorder (DVR)
You can now use your HD Set-Top Box to remotely view programs you record on your DVR.
Do I have to replace my Standard Definition (SD) boxes with High Definition (HD) boxes to use the multi-room feature?
No, you do not need to replace your SD Set-Top Boxes. This enhancement lets you stream DVR content throughout your home, including to remote HD Set-Top Boxes.
Subscription Video On Demand
Do I need to be a subscriber to premium channels to view Video On Demand content from that channel?
Yes, when you come across a premium Video On Demand title that you are interested in, you will first need to subscribe to that premium package before watching the content. Simply follow the onscreen prompts to add a channel for a nominal monthly fee.
FiOS TV Games
Can any Set-Top Box be used to access the new Verizon FiOS TV Games?
No, access to most games will require either a Standard Definition or HD DVR STB or a HD STB. Some games can be played on a standard (non-HD) STB.
Is there a fee associated with playing these games?
Many Verizon FiOS TV Games are free. However, some games will require a fee that varies depending on the type of game. Game prices are clearly displayed on the program information page for each game, and the fee allows access to 24 hours of game play.
How will I know when new games become available?
You can always check what games are available by accessing the Games feature via the Main Menu and viewing the games list. We will also announce the introduction of new games via our customer information web site at www.verizon.com/fiostvcentral.
Can I set Parental Controls to prevent children in my household from accessing certain games?
Yes, you can use the Parental Controls settings in the Settings menu to block access to games by rating. These ratings are provided by the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB). Simply go to the Main Menu, select Settings, and select Parental Controls to create or enter your 4-digit PIN and block games by rating.
What are Widgets?
Widgets are helpful information tools easily accessible from your FiOS TV service. Widgets give you easy one-touch access to useful real-time information such as news, sports, traffic, weather, horoscopes, *community information and What's Hot on FiOS TV.
