Lifeline Program

At Verizon, we know how important a home phone is to your family's safety and security. Verizon is a proud sponsor of Lifeline, a program that offers qualified customers home telephone service at a discount.

You could save up to $13.50 a month on your home phone bill and up to 50% on the installation fee*. You can even upgrade your voice features at an additional charge. With a home phone, you'll have peace of mind and a 24/7 link to family, friends and community services such as the police, fire department and ambulance.


What is Lifeline?

Lifeline provides a discount of $13.50 off of your monthly Verizon home telephone service if you meet certain eligibility requirements. The discount applies to voice telecommunications services including:

Who is Eligible?

To qualify for Lifeline you must be enrolled in a qualifying social service program (see below):

  • Medicaid
  • Food Stamps
  • Temporary Cash Assistance (TCA)
  • Supplemental Security Income (SSI)
  • Federal Public Housing Assistance (Section 8)
  • Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP)
  • National School Free Lunch Program
  • or your income must be below 150% of the federal poverty guidelines.



How to Apply for Lifeline

There are several ways to apply:

  1. Apply online

    You can apply through the website for Florida Public Service Commission's.

  2. Contact Verizon

    You can call 1 800 VERIZON (1-800-837-4966) to have an application mailed to you.

    We will mail you an application. Complete and mail the application to Verizon. We will provide you with written instructions.

    Or, download and print the application and mail or fax it directly to Verizon - contact information is included on the form.

  3. Auto enroll through the DCF

    If you are a new applicant or re-certifying your eligibility at the Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF) for Temporary Cash Assistance, Food Stamps, or Medicaid, you can choose to be automatically enrolled for the Lifeline program when you apply at the Department of Children and Families.

  4. Contact the Florida Office of Public Counsel

    Customers at or below 150% of the poverty level, but who are not currently receiving benefits from one of the listed programs, may be able to qualify for the Lifeline telephone assistance by contacting the Florida Office of Public Counsel in Tallahassee at 1-800-540-7039.
