Emergency Preparedness Month
New Jersey communities like Perth Amboy suffered severe damage in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy. Nearly two years later, Perth Amboy has bounced back from the devastation and provided the perfect backdrop for a gathering of executives from Verizon, the American Red Cross , FEMA and PSE&G on Sept. 30 to mark the end of National Preparedness Month and to stress the importance of disaster preparedness and emergency communications. Volunteer Spotlight: Employee Volunteers Visit Camden School for Day of Service
More than a dozen Verizon employees volunteered their time on Sept. 11 at Veterans Memorial Family School in Camden, New Jersey, mentoring the students and working with them to build solar-powered model race cars.
Verizon coordinated the event in conjunction with Jersey Cares, a nonprofit organization that works to increase civic engagement and to coordinate volunteer opportunities.
