Verizon New Jersey Director Honored with Company’s Highest HonorErik Sheehan, a director of operations for Verizon New Jersey, was recently recognized by Bob Mudge, President of Consumer and Mass Business for Verizon Telecom, with the company’s highest honor, the Verizon Credo Award. As a leader and an innovator on Verizon New Jersey’s team, Erik created a number of programs in 2014 to streamline internal processes and identify opportunities to improve his team’s performance to make a difference for customers. Volunteer Spotlight: Delivering the Comforts of Home to Troops Overseas

50 volunteers from 13 organizations, including Verizon employees and their families, gathered at Verizon’s operations center in Livingston, N.J., for an “Adopt A Unit” pack-up. In all, the volunteers packed 64 boxes that will be sent to more than 225 New Jersey troops stationed currently in Bahrain and Kuwait.

Super Capes for Kids

Verizon employees and interns recently visited some of the young patients at the Trinitas Regional Medical Center, located in Elizabeth, NJ, to drop off Superhero capes they decorated for the kids to brighten their day and help with a speedy recovery. Verizon Honored at New Jersey Public Television Benefit

NJTV, New Jersey’s public television network, recently honored Verizon New Jersey at a benefit event held May 28 at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center in Newark, New Jersey. Verizon was named NJTV’s 2014 Corporate Honoree for its ongoing support and advocacy of public television programming in the Garden State. Accepting the award on behalf of Verizon was Leecia Eve, Verizon’s vice president of state government affairs. [ Learn More ]

Verizon was honored with the Corporate Hero Award at the Red Cross' Celebrate Red! gala at the Park Savoy Estate in Florham Park on April 3rd.

Verizon has been a steadfast supporter of Red Cross disaster relief efforts and has worked with the Red Cross   to create a dynamic partnership extending beyond their incredible financial support. Following disasters such as Superstorm Sandy, Verizon has stepped forward with communications equipment and resources to aid response efforts and to benefit the community at large. Verizon is also committed to assisting the Red Cross raise awareness about emergency preparedness. Last summer, Verizon FiOS1 News worked together with the Red Cross during   Verizon’s Make Safety #1   campaign. In September, Verizon joined Red Cross, FEMA and fellow honoree Jersey City Department of Public Safety for annual National Preparedness Month events.

On a brisk February morning, nine volunteers - Anita Singh, Maureen Bednarski, Laura Shine, Megan Campbell, Arlene Shaw, Melissa Manzanares, Danny Julian, Jean Glennon, and Celeste Como - donned their winter attire and participated in an outdoor mobile food pantry near the Pediatrics Ward of Beth Israel Hospital in downtown Newark. Jersey Cares and the Community Food Bank of New Jersey sponsored the event.
