Verizon is proud to support the Hispanic Federation

2014 Hispanic Education Summit

The 2014 Hispanic Education Summit, organized and hosted by the Hispanic Federation, took place on Friday, September 12, 2014. It is an all-day conference which brings together community advocates, educators, students, parents and policymakers to advance best practices and needed reforms aimed at improving Latino educational achievement. Verizon is a strong supporter of the Hispanic Federation and, as such, was invited to greet conference attendees. Patrick Lespinasse, of the State Government Affairs team, highlighted the Verizon Foundation’s support of the Federation’s public awareness campaign around early childhood education. He also encouraged attendees to participate in and promote the annual Verizon Innovative App Challenge, a national competition created by the Verizon Foundation in partnership with the Technology Student Association that challenges students to develop ideas and concepts for mobile apps. Other speakers included New York City Council Speaker Melissa Mark-Viverito and New York City Schools Chancellor Carmen Farina.
