Verizon’s “The Future is Now” contest challenged high school students across the country to create a video demonstrating the power of Verizon’s 4G LTE network. Twenty-one schools across the country participated, but only one corralled more votes than the others to be declared the winner.
Centennial High School in Champaign, IL made the below video featuring the different uses of 4G LTE and received more than 21,000 votes to be declared the grand prize winner!
On Thursday, May 10, Doug Trent, Champaign store manager, attended the school’s “In-School Graduation” to present a $20,000 check for their hard work.
“It’s amazing to see the ingenuity and creativity from the students,” Doug shared. “We’re very happy to be a part of this community.”
The money received will be used to help the school’s music survey class (which made the winning video) purchase recording equipment and other new technology for the class. In addition, a special bench will be placed in the school’s courtyard, and a portion of the funds will be directed to the physical education department to start a yoga class.
