Shellye Archambeau

NEW YORK – Verizon Communications Inc. (NYSE, Nasdaq: VZ) today announced the election of Shellye Archambeau, chief executive officer of MetricStream, to the Verizon Board of Directors, effective Dec. 1.

“Shellye is an accomplished executive who brings a wide range of experience in technology, e-commerce, digital media and communications to Verizon,” said Lowell McAdam, Verizon chairman and chief executive officer. “She offers a unique perspective on applying emerging technologies to solve real business challenges and on the development and marketing of telecommunications and Internet services and solutions. We are very pleased to have Shellye join our board.”

The addition of Archambeau brings Verizon’s total board membership to 14.

Archambeau joined MetricStream in 2002, and under her leadership the company has grown to more than 1,000 employees worldwide and become a global leader in governance, risk and compliance.

Previously, she was chief marketing officer and executive vice president of sales for Loudcloud Inc., chief marketing officer for NorthPoint Communications, president of Blockbuster Inc.’s e-commerce division, and held domestic and international executive positions in a 15-year career at IBM.

Archambeau currently serves on the board of directors for the Silicon Valley Leadership Group, IT Senior Management Forum and Watermark. She received her bachelor’s degree from the Wharton School at University of Pennsylvania.
