The free business-directory assistance service 1-800-THE-INFO has added the first-of-its-kind advertising marketplace for business owners, no matter how limited their budgets. The service uses a simple Web-based process to create, target and track interactive voice ads that are inserted into the directory assistance calls.

"While people call 1-800-THE-INFO for a variety of free business-directory listings, you can pretty much count on Friday night being a big draw for pizza parlors and movie times," said Trudy Adams, Verizon LiveSource director for 1-800-THE-INFO marketing.  "The VoodooVox In-Call Media platform makes it very simple and affordable for local pizza parlors, movie theaters and other businesses to get their advertising directly to customers in their area."

When callers make a free call to 1-800-THE-INFO from any phone and use voice search to find local businesses, they first hear a brief ad, enabled by VoodooVox In-Call Media, from an advertiser interested in reaching local consumers.  Then the callers are given their free listing.

Businesses can start advertising on 1-800-THE-INFO simply by going to http://www.800theinfo.com/advertise.htm and following the steps to create an advertising campaign that includes audience targeting and scheduling.  Businesses can upload their own pre-recorded announcements or create new ones through the platform's Audio Talent Network of voice-over actors.  In addition, businesses have the ability to see up-to-the-minute performance analytics during their campaigns.

"The VoodooVox In-Call Media product simplifies the process and shortens the time needed to create a campaign," said VoodooVox president and CEO J. Scott Hamilton.  "It gives businesses a way to reach callers with promotional offers in a succinct, easy-to-remember fashion.

"Advertisers can reach prospective customers efficiently in this way at a fraction of the cost of other media.  It also makes sense for a caller to listen to an ad from a business that provides a product or service where the caller lives," Scott said.

Through the VoodooVox self-service interface, advertisers can create an account and launch their first campaign in as little as 30 minutes, and the average one-month campaign usually won't cost more than $200.

1-800-THE-INFO is available to callers from any wireless or wireline phone in the U.S. Wireless calls are subject to the provider's airtime and text message fees.
