"How to Find It" Series in Five Languages at
the Flushing Library

Informational Tour Provides Hands-On Tutorial
of Library's Print and Electronic Resources

QUEENS, N.Y. -- Bell Atlantic Yellow Pages and the Queens Library
today introduced the "How-to Find It" lecture series that provides the
diverse population of Queens with information on how to more effectively
use the Flushing Library's resources.

Funded by a Bell Atlantic Yellow Pages grant, the "How to Find It" series
is a two-phase program. During the first phase, participants receive a
guided tour of the Library's print and electronic resources. The second
phase of the program, held one week later, provides participants with a
hands-on demonstration of the facility's InfoLinQ and WorldlinQ database
services. The program will be conducted in five languages, including
English, Chinese, Korean, Russian and Spanish.

Parrinello, director of New York channel management, Bell Atlantic
Yellow Pages.

Flushing Library is able to share vital information about the library's vast
resources with our diverse neighborhood," added Gary Strong, director,
Queens Borough Public Library.

The "How to Find It" series was announced during the September roll out
of the 1998-1999 Bell Atlantic Queens Yellow Pages featuring a cover
illustration of the Flushing Library.

The recently rebuilt Flushing Library has the highest number of visitors in
the busiest public library system in the United States. Opened in June of
1998, the new Flushing Library is located at the crossroads of one of the
borough's most ethnically diverse communities. The 76,000-square-foot
building houses 300,000 volumes in more than 35 languages. The library
provides programs and services that reflect the diversity of the
neighborhood in which it is located, housing an adult learning center, the
largest children's reading room in Queens, and the International Resource
Center, a unique city-wide reference center.
