Organizations Kick-Off the Partnership With A "Garden of
Hope"
as Daffodil Days Begin

PHILADELPHIA -- At a unique celebration of its
Daffodil Days fund-raising initiative, the American Cancer Society
announced today that Bell Atlantic NYNEX Mobile has been named its first
"Official Corporate Partner" in Southeast Pennsylvania. As
such, Bell
Atlantic NYNEX Mobile will contribute more than $90,000 to the American
Cancer Society's Southeastern Pennsylvania region over the next two
years. In addition, the wireless leader will utilize its extensive
network of employees, customers and resources to mobilize additional
funds and awareness of the American Cancer Society's life-saving
efforts.

As one of their first contributions, Bell Atlantic NYNEX Mobile
employees, including regional president Robert F. Stott, joined the
American Cancer Society, members of the Deliverance Evangelistic Church
community, and a class of four-year-old Head Start students to plant a
"Garden of Hope" on the church grounds. The garden will help
to
beautify the area, and will simultaneously remind community members of
the importance of Daffodil Days. The organizations hope to plant a
similar garden in a new location each year at this time.

"As a cancer survivor myself, I am absolutely committed to the
American Cancer Society's work," said Bell Atlantic NYNEX Mobile
regional president Robert F. Stott. "We are very proud to be
directing our resources to this fight," he added.

Trevor Lawman, chairman of the board of the American Cancer Society of
Pa., noted that "Bell Atlantic NYNEX Mobile has certainly shown
itself
to be a community leader through this unique partnership. Its
financial contribution, as well as its ability to mobilize resources
and reach consumers in the Delaware Valley, will be a tremendous boost
to our efforts to make a difference in the health of Greater
Philadelphia residents."

In addition to its $90,000 cash contribution to the American Cancer
Society, Bell Atlantic NYNEX Mobile will also participate in a variety
of the American Cancer Society's fund-raising initiatives and special
events, and will continue to work with the American Cancer Society to
seek unique ways for residents of the Delaware Valley to have greater
access to the organization's important information and resources.
