RESTON, Va. -- Bell Atlantic Video has the ultimate television service for
shoppers this holiday season -- a true alternative to cable with satellite
programming and local channels plus a limited time offer for free
installation on a second TV hook-up.

The offer, a $50 saving for installation on a second television, is available
through Jan. 15 to more than five million households in New Jersey and the
Washington, D.C. area.

"Cable TV viewers needn't spend the holidays desperately flipping through
the channels looking for something good to watch," said Dick Beville,
president of Bell Atlantic Video. "This holiday season we're making them
a special offer to let them know they have a choice. Bell Atlantic Video
offers a viewing utopia with more than 200 available channels of satellite
programming and local channel reception."

Bell Atlantic Video has combined the most extensive programming choices
and competitive pricing from DIRECTV* and U.S. Satellite
Broadcasting** (USSB)** with Bell Atlantic installation and customer
service. Bell Atlantic's offer includes a quality antenna installed to deliver
access to local broadcast channels without a cable connection.

Bell Atlantic customers can choose a variety of programming packages
from DIRECTV, the most popular featuring 60 top channels and 31
commercial-free Music Choice channels for $29.99 per month. They can
also choose from a selection of premium movie channels from USSB such
as five channels of HBO for $10.99 per month.

"By combining the best in paid television with free over-the-air local
channels, Bell Atlantic has created a one-stop alternative to cable television
in touch with the needs of today's consumer," said Beville.

The initial charge of $199 includes professional installation of a DIRECTV
system -- an 18-inch satellite dish, one set-top receiver and a remote control
-- and an antenna for reception of local channels on all televisions
previously hooked up to cable. Hook-ups for additional TV sets are
normally $50.

Unlike many cable TV companies, Bell Atlantic provides customer service
24 hours a day, seven days a week.

In addition to the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area and New Jersey,
Bell Atlantic plans to offer this service in other Northeast markets early
next year.

More information on the service is available at 1-888-379-2355 or on the
Bell Atlantic World Wide Web site at www.bellatlantic.com/digitaltv.

DIRECTV is the nation's leading digital satellite television service with
more than 4.2 million subscribers nationwide. The service offers access to
more than 185 channels of digital entertainment, including popular networks
such as CNN, Disney Channel, ESPN, and USA Network. In addition, subscribers
can select from as many as 55 pay per view movie choices a day.

United States Satellite Broadcasting Company, Inc. (Nasdaq: USSB),
provides consumers nationwide with an unprecedented collection of
premium movie channels. The 18-inch digital satellite system is the only
place where consumers can get programming from USSB and DIRECTV.
The company's headquarters are located in St. Paul, Minnesota.
