BELL ATLANTIC UNVEILS NEW WEB SITE
Arlington, VA -- Bell Atlantic today "leaps" into a new
era of Internet communications by unveiling a new World Wide Web site
that more effectively communicates with the public.
The new site, the Bell Atlantic Showcase
"http://www.bell-atl.com/">(http://www.bell-atl.com/), will allow
information to be found quickly and easily. The home page, which has a
new sleek design, is much faster to load. Content has been added and
reorganized, and navigation paths are more obvious and based on customer
preferences. Additionally, a new search engine has been included.
"We're changing to a distinctive, user-friendly approach that
directly showcases our products and services," said Patrick C.

customers to be able to get directly to information they want quickly and
The Showcase replaces the CyberLibrary, the corporate Web site introduced
in January 1995 to find information. Although the new site is designed
as a marketing tool, it will continue to serve as an excellent source of
corporate information. For example, the Investor Information and Media
Relations sections will remain and be filled with useful information
about Bell Atlantic.
"We best serve our customers by presenting them an attractive,
functional Web site that reflects our professionalism," said
Coulter. "As high-speed Internet access becomes more widely
available and browsers with enhanced functionality become more
commonplace, we will add more pizzaz to the site."
In addition to the visible changes, management of the site will stress
flexibility. Daily marketing and news updates will be made on the home
page and most e-mail queries will be answered the same business day.
Both the introduction of new Bell Atlantic services and customer feedback
will dictate what changes are made to the site.
"The World Wide Web is a dynamic medium that allows, actually cries
out for, continual updates," said Coulter. "Bell Atlantic has
always taken pride in its customer support and the Showcase will be an
extension of that outstanding customer service."
The Showcase was produced entirely with Bell Atlantic in-house
resources. Corporate Communications, which has overall control of the
site, provided the architecture and editorial content. Bell Atlantic
Creative Services developed the home page design and generated all
graphics leading to previously existing pages. The corporation's
Internet Services Center of Excellence, which provides the technical
expertise, handled all production tasks, including programming and
The new Web site is intended to be the centerpiece of Bell Atlantic's
Internet communications with its customers and other audiences. Some
corporate organizations connected to the Showcase have sites previously
developed by outside agencies. These staff agencies and lines of
business have the flexibility to use the Web to best communicate with
their audiences about their specific products and services.
