RESTON, Va. -- Bell Atlantic.netsm will reduce the price of its entry-level
package of high-speed DSL (digital subscriber line) service and Internet
access by $10, starting April 1.

Customers who subscribe to the Bell Atlantic Personal Infospeedsm DSL
package, which features speeds up to 640 kilobits per second (Kbps) and
Bell Atlantic.net Internet access, now will pay $49.95 a month for
unlimited use.

"We're accelerating the momentum for DSL by making high-quality, high-
speed access to the Internet more affordable for consumers who want an
always-on connection," said Myles Mendelsohn, vice president and
general manager of Bell Atlantic Internet Solutions. "We're committed to
offering our customers competitive pricing and a range of options to fit
their individual needs."

In addition to the price cut for the entry-level DSL package, the price of
Bell Atlantic.net's Professional DSL package will be reduced to $99.95 a
month for unlimited use, a $10 reduction. Professional Infospeed features
speeds up to 1.6 megabits per second (Mbps) and Bell Atlantic.net Internet
access.

Bell Atlantic.net's premium DSL package, Bell Atlantic Power Infospeed,
will remain at $189.95 a month for unlimited use with speeds up to 7.1
Mbps and Bell Atlantic.net Internet access.

Service Options Expanding, Macintosh Platforms Supported
Bell Atlantic.net Infospeed users now have access to NBC and CNET's
new Snap.com portal service, a content gateway service designed
specifically for high-speed users, featuring outstanding rich-media content
and services.

In addition, Bell Atlantic.net recently expanded availability of its
Infospeed DSL packages to users of Macintosh* and Macintosh-
compatible computers, in addition to the iMac*.

Bell Atlantic.net also is planning to expand service options for Infospeed
DSL subscribers beginning this summer. Customer input will help
determine which features will be added to the Bell Atlantic.net offerings.
Services under consideration include multiple mail boxes, expanded
personal Web space, support for home LANs (local area networks) and
multiple IP (Internet protocol) addressing.

"We recognize there are many choices for Internet access and that's why
we're striving to deliver the highest quality of service to our customers,"
said Mendelsohn. "We provide 24-hour service seven days a week,
highly-trained service representatives and an extensive online help desk
for questions about the Internet and Bell Atlantic.net. Our goal is to make
it easy and convenient for our customers to do business with us."

Infospeed DSL is Bell Atlantic's brand name for ADSL, or Asymmetric
Digital Subscriber Line technology, which provides Internet access to
consumers at speeds 11 to 126 times faster than that afforded by a 56
kilobits per second (Kbps) modem. By taking advantage of unused
capacity available in existing telephone lines, the technology allows
consumers to use a single phone line to send faxes or make phone calls
while they're surfing the Internet.

Infospeed DSL is available today in parts of the Washington, D.C.,
Pittsburgh and Philadelphia metropolitan areas and the Hudson River
waterfront communities of New Jersey. It will be offered to residents of
the New York City and Boston metropolitan areas beginning this spring.
By the end of 1999, always-on Infospeed DSL service will be deployed in
communities with more than 8 million households in Bell Atlantic's
service area.

Customers can check on availability of DSL in their area and make a
reservation for Bell Atlantic Infospeed DSL services today via the Bell
Atlantic Web site at www.bellatlantic.com/infospeed or by calling 1-877-
525-ADSL.
