BERNVILLE, Pa. - Consumers and businesses in parts of Bernville, Mohrsville and Hamburg now have access to Verizon High Speed Internet, allowing them to quickly download movies, share photos or video with friends and family, and create their own Internet content.

"Verizon is enabling more rural residents across Pennsylvania to make the high-speed connections that are important to them," said William B. Petersen, president of Verizon Pennsylvania. "Verizon's ongoing, significant investment in Pennsylvania means that many more rural communities like these have access to affordable and reliable high-speed Internet service."

Verizon deployed High Speed Internet service to Bernville, Mohrsville and Hamburg through Pennsylvania's bona fide retail request (BFRR) program, which allows members of a community to aggregate demand and petition their local telephone company to deploy broadband service within a year.

Verizon has invested nearly $10 billion in its Pennsylvania network over the last decade.    Verizon High Speed Internet service now is available in 89 percent of the company's call-switching centers across the commonwealth.

Consumers who go online to order Verizon High Speed Internet for one year by May 14 will get service with speeds up to 768 Kbps (kilobits per second)* for $14.99 a month.  This is a $60 annual savings.  In addition, Verizon is offering its service with speeds up to 3 Mbps (megabits per second) for an introductory price of $19.99 a month for the first six months when ordered online by May 14 with an annual service plan.  This also represents a $60 savings for the first year of service.  No matter what speed or plan customers choose, Verizon High Speed Internet includes 24/7 live customer support, a 30-day money-back guarantee, self-installation kit, a choice of MSN Premium or Verizon Yahoo! services, nine e-mail accounts and 10 MB (megabytes) of personal Web space.  For additional information about Verizon high-speed Internet plans, consumers can call 1-800-742-5375 or can visit www.verizon.net/dsl to see if the service is available to their homes and to place orders.
