cut-and-paste method of producing catalogs in favor of an electronic
database system that will save the company precious time and money.
The company's next generation of catalogs will be produced using
Howard W. Sams' Datahost database management system.

Datahost is a relational database management system composed of
millions of formatted and standardized product items. Since all
product information is generated from a single database, companies can
save significantly on costs while improving efficiency in the
production of customized print, CD-ROM and on-line catalogs.

"Because we serve a high-tech industry, our products are constantly
evolving as new technology is developed," said Adele Hamel, director
of sales for Capitol Cable. "We chose Datahost because it allows us
to easily manipulate data and quickly update the products in our
catalog. It also lets us respond to our customers demands for print,
CD-ROM or on-line capability."

Capitol Cable, headquartered in Gaithersburg, Md., is a value-added
distributor of network connectivity products in Maryland, Virginia and
the District of Columbia. The company offers extensive training in the
latest technological developments for both its support staff and
customers. "Datahost provides an efficient way of keeping our catalog
current in a rapidly changing industry," said Hamel. "Being able to
effectively support and market these new products gives us the edge in
a very competitive marketplace."

"Electronic catalogs built from relational databases are the future of
the distribution industry," said Dan Gomez, president of Bell Atlantic
Directory Graphics and chairman of Howard W. Sams. "By using Datahost
to build their comprehensive catalog, Capitol Cable will be
well-prepared for that future while continuing to provide current
customers with traditional print catalogs."

Howard W. Sams & Company, acquired by Bell Atlantic in 1995, publishes
nearly 125 catalogs annually for its customers in the bearing and
power transmission, electronic, electrical, HVAC/R, industrial,
janitorial, paper and plumbing supplies markets. Howard W. Sams,
located on the World Wide Web at http://www.hwsams.com, is the
nation's largest provider of after-market service data for the
television/VCR repair industry in the form of the PHOTOFACT and
VCRfact subscription services. In addition, the company owns Masters
Press, which publishes sport fitness and reference books.
