Two big New Jersey college basketball games are on tap this weekend - and Verizon FiOS1 is the only place to catch the action.

The first game features exciting men's action with Monmouth University battling Florida International University - led by its new coach, Isiah Thomas - on Friday (Nov. 13) at 7 p.m.  The game is Thomas' first in the tri-state region since leaving the Knicks.  The game will be available on FiOS1 channels in New Jersey and on Long Island.  It will also be available live on V CAST Videos from Verizon, for Verizon Wireless customers virtually anywhere around the country.

In the second game, the Rutgers women's basketball team opens its 2009-2010 season against Stanford on Sunday (Nov. 15) at 2 p.m.  The game, to be broadcast live from the Rutgers Athletic Center in Livingston, N. J., can be seen on all Verizon's FiOS1 channels as well as on V CAST Videos.

"We're thrilled to kick off this new season with what promises to be exciting matchups between some of the best teams in the nation," said Michelle Webb, Verizon's general manager and chief programming officer, FiOS1 local channels.  "FiOS1 and V CAST Videos from Verizon will offer our customers a chance to see a variety of athletic events this winter - from basketball to lacrosse and so much more."

In addition to carrying select Rutgers sporting events, FiOS1 is carrying select women's and men's basketball games featuring Princeton, Hofstra and George Mason universities.  Many of the games are carried live on the FiOS1 channels.

Other upcoming women's basketball games to be broadcast on FiOS1 are:

  • Buffalo at Hofstra,  Nov. 16 at 7 p.m.

  • Boston College at Rutgers, Nov. 19 at  7:30 p.m.*
  • Stony Brook at Hofstra, Dec.1 at 7 p.m.
