Verizon Business announced Thursday (May 6) that Forrester Research Inc. has recognized Verizon Business as a leader in the European wide-area-network services market.
In its April 2010 report "The Forrester Wave™: European WAN Services, Q2 2010," the firm states that Verizon Business "leads the pack on current offering, overall strategy and market presence." Verizon Business gained the "top score" for fixed access options, and has "top-tier operations and management capabilities to support MNCs' European WAN requirements" and in particular the company has maintained its position as "the provider with the most comprehensive and easy-to-use e-portal."
The report also notes that Verizon Business has "extensive European fiber routes and MANs, offers aggressive SLAs and has a large and rapidly growing European customer base."
Using 58 criteria, Forrester evaluated the strengths and weaknesses of 12 European major service providers. The selected companies have European market stature, market momentum and commitment to MPLS as a foundation technology.
Anthony Recine, vice president of network and communications, Verizon Business, said: "We believe this recognition reflects the strength of the Verizon Business offer and our ongoing commitment to delivering quality solutions to our customers based in Europe and elsewhere around the globe. Enterprises rely on secure and easy access to their corporate networks, and our solutions provide them with a variety of flexible and scalable access options -- all underpinned by our security and managed services expertise. It is our aim to help our customers streamline their global businesses, reduce costs, increase efficiency and, most importantly, support their evolving business needs in today's competitive environment."
Verizon Business offers pan-European IP VPN and Carrier Ethernet WAN services, both delivered over MPLS technology. Verizon Private IP, Verizon Business' flagship WAN service, is a network-based, virtual private network that enables customers to effectively communicate over a secure network. The service also provides the foundation for automating business processes -- including e-commerce, and shared intranets and extranets -- between companies. Based on MPLS technology, Verizon Private IP offers customers scalable and flexible network connections with integrated performance and traffic-management capabilities.
