NEW YORK - Beginning today, consumers who order Verizon Online DSL broadband service online at www.verizon.net as part of a package of Verizon calling services or in an annual service plan will get their first three months of service for one-third off, just $19.95 a month. And, through July 27, the company also will waive its $19.95 one-time shipping and activation fee for these new online orders. Together, that's almost a $50 savings.
"People looking for the best value in broadband can find it at Verizon," said Chris Pizzirani, Verizon executive director, product management and development. "With connection speeds up to 3 megabits per second, MSN Premium service included at no additional charge, and a great selection of features including movie rentals from Movielink, music for sale from Rhapsody and games from Wild Tangent and Real Arcade, we've created an unsurpassed broadband experience at an unbeatable price."
At the same time, new Verizon Online customers who call Verizon at 1-800-PICK-DSL to order DSL as part of a package or an annual service plan during the special promotional period can also take advantage of the new pricing for online ordering.
New DSL customers signing up for an annual service plan also receive, at no additional charge, a home gateway - a combination DSL modem and broadband router - that lets them share their DSL connection among multiple computers in their homes.
Verizon Online also now offers DSL customers its new Verizon Internet Security Suite, which provides comprehensive computer protection with a unique package of anti-spyware, anti-virus, firewall, parental control/content management and pop-up/ad blocker software, and an online privacy manager. Customers purchasing the Security Suite can choose to protect up to three computers for $7.95 a month or one computer for just $4.95 a month.
In one download, Verizon Security Suite provides safer surfing, helps guard against invisible threats, fights malicious programs, and makes it tougher for hackers to attack. The suite of security services is designed to run behind the scenes, as long as the computer is on. The suite also provides an automatic update feature that updates the software every three hours, not just when a computer is rebooted, helping ensure that customers are protected with the latest detection software available.
Verizon Online customers receive live technical support round-the-clock, nine e-mail boxes and 10 MB (megabytes) of personal Web space equipped with Verizon's exclusive Site Builder tool.
