PHILADELPHIA - An innovative television series premiering this fall will transform five ordinary Pennsylvania families' homes into technology wonderlands.

Sponsored by Verizon, "My Home 2.0" shows families how they can realize the full potential of technology to improve their lives.  Each show will give a technology-challenged family a complete high-tech makeover, upgrading their home with the latest networking, home entertainment and gaming technology and products available - including Verizon's innovative FiOS services.

Verizon delivers FiOS Internet and TV services over the company's all-digital, fiber-optic-powered network straight to consumers' homes - the only company in the nation to do so on a large scale.

FiOS TV is currently available to more than 260,000 households in 86 communities in southeastern Pennsylvania in Bucks, Chester, Delaware and Montgomery counties.

"This project is a great opportunity to show how technology can enhance people's lives," said Beth Mulhern, Verizon's director of consumer regional marketing in Pennsylvania and Delaware. "Verizon's all-fiber network and FiOS services make great technology work even better.  It's one thing to talk about superior TV-picture quality and ultra-high-speed Internet service, but it's another thing to actually experience them when you're connected to the best network available."

The TV series' first episode will begin filming on Sept. 12 at a family's home in the Bucks County community of Yardley and wrap up with a communitywide block party on Sept. 15 as the family's home-technology makeover is unveiled.

Taking its cues from popular shows such as "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" and "Mythbusters," "My Home 2.0" brings the world of high tech into the homes of regular families.  Segments will feature an energetic trio of technology gurus dispatched to analyze each family's particular situation, solve problems and set about transforming their lives through technology.

The "My Home 2.0" team will select two more southeastern Pennsylvania families through casting calls at various events in coming weeks.  Potential makeover candidates can get more information or submit their own casting video at www.2pointhome.com after Sept. 15.

Later this fall, two families in the Pittsburgh area will receive technology makeovers that will be made into additional episodes for the "My Home 2.0" TV series.
