NYNEX Executive Leaving Company
South Burlington -- NYNEX's top executive in Vermont, Robert C. Devaney,
has announced he will leave the company through an early retirement incentive
I have a great opportunity to take advantage of the plan that NYNEX
has extended to all its managers over the past three years, says Devaney.
This opportunity enables me to complete my career with NYNEX at a time in
my life when I'm ready to explore exciting new possibilities to be just
as creative and motivated as ever in a new career.
Devaney will stay on in his current position as state vice president
for the next several months to assure a smooth transition for his replacement
once he or she has been selected.
"Bob has been an exemplary leader within our corporation and
an outstanding advocate for Vermont and Vermonters," said Wayne Budd,
NYNEX senior vice president for New England. "His skills and talents
have been an asset to NYNEX not only in the Northeast but also internationally.
I really regret that he is leaving our business. There is no doubt in my
mind that Bob will be successful in any future endeavor that he chooses."
Devaney may be leaving NYNEX, but not Vermont. "My wife, three
sons and I have established our lives here and hope to stay. We're looking
forward to new exciting opportunities ahead."
