CHARLOTTE, NC -- Prompted by the overwhelming response to its
extenisve community service program, Bell Atlantic Mobile is
celebrating the grand opening of its newest Communications Store,
located at 8020 Providence Road in the Arboretum Shopping Center,
with the donation of a wireless phone to Elon Homes for Children.

A ribbon cutting ceremony will kick off the grand opening festivities
tomorrow, Friday, June 11 at 11:00 a.m. Several representatives from the
Charlotte Chamber, joined by Arboretum Store Manager Michelle
Stephens, will be on hand to assist.

Following the ceremony, Bell Atlantic Mobile will present a wireless
phone to Robert Alexander, program director at Elon Homes for
Children. The Homes' staff members will use the phone, programmed to
dial 9-1-1, to maintain close contact with the night supervisor while he
patrols the facility, which will provide added security for the abused and
neglected children who reside at the Home.

As part of the celebration, free food and beverages will be available,
along with several giveaways. WLNK-FM will broadcast live from 4:00
p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Customers can also come in for free phone tune-ups,
and may register to win a digital phone during the Grand Opening.

"Our customer base is rapidly expanding in the Arboretum
area," said Stephens, "so we opened this location so our
customers can enjoy even more convenient access to our products and
services," she said. "This new store also provides us with the
opportunity to keep pace with the growing demand for our SingleRate?
digital wireless service, and to improve our outstanding customer service
by having stores where our customers want them."
