Verizon Brings Lightning-Fast Internet Connections to 'The Crest Lofts' in New York City's Financial District

NEW YORK - Residents moving into newly renovated rental apartments at The Crest Lofts on Wall Street will enjoy the latest amenities, including Verizon FiOS Internet Service at speeds of up to 50Mbps (megabits per second) delivered via the nation's most advanced digital all-fiber-optic network.

Nathan Berman, president of Metro Loft Management, the developer and manager of The Crest Lofts, said he never had a second thought about implementing the FiOS service.

"Given the brisk pace of technology in the modern world, it is crucial that one stays up to date and even ahead of the times - and we are determined to help our tenants do that," Berman said.  "Whether it is in the various amenities or in the services we provide, we are preparing a solid foundation for the future."

The scheduled implementation of FiOS at The Crest Lofts reflects the competitive advantage Verizon's fiber-to-the-premises (FTTP) network offers developers in marketing their properties.

Eric Cevis, vice president of Verizon Enhanced Communities, said, "We are thrilled to bring FiOS Internet Services to residents in New York City. Residents at The Crest Lofts, along with consumers who live in other parts of the five boroughs where FiOS Internet is available, will truly be amazed when they surf the Internet or download feature films with FiOS."

At that high speed, downloading a 1.2 GB (gigabit) or 90-minute standard-definition movie takes only 3.2 minutes.

Cevis also noted that Verizon's digital fiber network is used to deliver FiOS TV, an all-digital, feature-rich service that could be made available to The Crest Lofts and elsewhere in the city once a local video franchise is granted to Verizon. TV service providers are required by law to negotiate franchises with municipalities they hope to serve.

In New York, Verizon's FiOS Internet service offers download speeds of up to 10, 20, and 50 Mbps and upload speeds of up to 5 Mbps.

Apartments at The Crest Lofts, at 67 Wall St., are currently available for lease, and tenant move-ins commenced earlier this month. The 25-story building will offer its residents such amenities as a valet service for laundry and dry cleaning; housekeeping; and a front-desk concierge, in-house DVD rental, and storage and laundry facilities.
