When Burberry recently streamed its spring/summer 2011 women's wear show live into 25 flagship stores around the world, it chose longtime solutions partner Verizon Business to help deliver the experience.

The retailer delivered live, private viewings of its London Fashion Week show to key global stores via the Burberry Retail Theatre - an interactive multimedia experience powered by a custom-tailored communications and networking solution from Verizon.  Featuring high-definition video screens and pioneering surround-sound technology, the virtual fashion show enabled customers to explore and buy directly from the collection, using a custom-built Burberry iPad application.

A high-capacity, global Verizon Private IP network offered a secure environment to support the live and cached streaming of the event, and integrated wireless local network capabilities enabled local interactivity such as real-time blog uploads, image downloads and instant online and in-store iPad purchasing. The solution engaged additional capacity on demand to enhance Burberry's existing global Internet-protocol-enabled Verizon network, which provides the foundation for the company's daily voice and data business communications, and supports the company's online initiatives.
