Like many multinational companies, Siemens Enterprise Communications needed to streamline its communications network management while setting the stage for advanced services.  The company turned to Verizon Business for an integrated communications and networking solution that will enable it to operate more efficiently and cost-effectively as it transitions to a unified communications environment.

Verizon's solution for upgrading Siemens Enterprise Communications' European communications infrastructure integrates voice over IP with centralized, multicountry and multisite IP Trunking to link the company's Munich headquarters with operations across 10 European countries. Additionally, Verizon IP Trunking's Burstable Enterprise Shared Trunks (BEST) feature enables Siemens to essentially scale VoIP network capacity on demand to support its business needs.

Verizon's simple VoIP infrastructure has also enabled Siemens to transition all its voice communications to its own award-winning OpenScape Unified Communications Suite, which includes audio conferencing, presence and collaboration tools - as well as providing a platform on which this can be demonstrated to the company's customers.

Guenther Ernst, Siemens Enterprise Communications chief information officer, said: "Migrating our European infrastructure to the Verizon Business solution has enhanced not only our internal communications capabilities, but also our ability to service our customers. We chose Verizon Business to support us for Europe in our global project, thanks to the positive experience of working with the company in North America, and are now planning to continue deployment across the Asia-Pacific region. Essentially, Verizon Business is helping us streamline our operations so we can enhance our business agility to realize our business goals."
