Gartner Inc. has positioned Verizon Business in the Leaders quadrant of the analyst firm's new report, "Magic Quadrant for Communications Outsourcing and Professional Services, North America."¹ The report follows the company's recent Leaders quadrant positioning in Gartner's "Magic Quadrant for Communications Outsourcing and Professional Services, Worldwide."²
Gartner examined 17 U.S.-based providers of IT services for business communications systems - including both fixed and mobile connectivity. Specific IT services evaluated include maintenance and support, consulting, application development, integration, and ongoing management of IT and related business processes.
"We view communications outsourcing and professional services as key to helping customers achieve the benefits of unified communications and collaboration," said Kerry Bailey, senior vice president and chief marketing officer for Verizon Business. "Our leading managed services platform and advanced managed mobility offerings continue to set us apart from the competition, and we continue to capitalize on our key strengths as Verizon Business moves to an 'everything-as-a-service' model."
Positioning in the Magic Quadrant is based on the ability to execute and completeness of vision. According to Gartner's report: "Leaders affect competitors by the choices they make in enabling technology and service offerings, their focus on the enterprise and targeted vertical segments, and their capability to differentiate value, price and service levels to be first to market with relevant products. Companies in the Leaders quadrant are performing well today, have a clear vision of market direction and are building competencies to sustain their leadership positions in the market. Vendor and customer experience weigh heavily in the Leaders quadrant. Leaders have demonstrated that they have significant network management and outsourcing experience, and understand the dynamics needed to deliver network-centric IT services successfully."
The market for outsourcing management of communications systems to third-party vendors continues to gain significant traction among businesses of all sizes. Current Gartner forecasts project that the North American communications outsourcing market will be $70 billion this year, an increase of 7.8 percent from 2009.
