Verizon and TV Globo Internacional announced Wednesday (Feb. 3) an agreement to make TV Globo Internacional, the leading Brazilian channel, available on Verizon's FiOS TV service.  This is the first Brazilian channel available on FiOS TV's growing international lineup, which now covers 21 languages - a collection that cable can't match.

"FiOS TV is the ultimate home-entertainment experience, and we continue to enhance the service with exciting, new international programming," said Terry Denson, vice president of content strategy and acquisition for Verizon.  "TV Globo is a great addition for our Portuguese-speaking subscribers, bringing the best in Brazilian programming to the TV screen, with the amazing picture-and-sound quality that only FiOS delivers."

Marcelo Spinola, director of TV Globo Internacional, said: "This partnership with Verizon is extremely important for TV Globo Internacional, and is aligned with our global strategy to associate with partners who constantly invest in quality, innovation and technology.  We recognize Verizon's state-of-the-art technology, and we believe that the company's strong presence in the United States will help increase our subscriber base."

TV Globo Internacional is available on FiOS TV channel 1768, beginning this week in Texas and California and in all other FiOS TV markets by the end of next week.  Priced at $19.99 per month, TV Globo joins FiOS TV's growing international offering, which includes one other Portuguese channel - RTPI - and much more.

FiOS TV offers a broad collection of programming, with more than 560 all-digital channels including up to 138 HD channels and 18,000 monthly video-on-demand titles.  FiOS provides next-generation interactive services including an advanced interactive media guide; social TV, news and entertainment widgets; remote DVR management; multi-room DVR; and more.
