TAMPA, Fla. - Verizon Information Technologies (VIT) LLC, following the recent completion of the sale of its health care claims processing service to Leonia, N.J.-based Infocrossing Inc. (Nasdaq: IFOX), announced plans to increase market share by leveraging the overall IT capabilities of Verizon to deliver next-generation business solutions to customers.

In making the announcement, Harry A. Artz, president of VIT, said the company plans to expand well beyond its current set of customers across 12 industries located nationwide and in 13 other countries. This will in part be accomplished by working closely with Verizon Enterprise Solutions Group (ESG) to combine the capabilities of Verizon's advanced nationwide broadband network with Verizon's powerful IT capabilities.

"Bringing together potential new customers of our IT services with Verizon's network capabilities provides the opportunity to bring forward the internal IT capabilities of a Fortune 12 IT organization to these same customers," Artz said. "This capability supports Verizon's commitment to continually improving the quality and quantity of our overall business solutions for customers."

Artz and his team, based in Tampa, Fla., and Waltham, Mass., and working with ESG's nationwide salesforce, serve Fortune 1000 customers in the finance, education, communications, manufacturing, distribution, health care and technology industries as well as other vertical markets. "The services VIT and ESG are marketing together will add value for our customers wanting to leverage IT technology to solve business problems," Artz said.

VIT will also continue to provide data center hosting, managed IT services and combined telecommunication and IT solutions. Reporting directly to Artz are Vice Presidents Edward Woznicki and Shawn Hakl. Woznicki is responsible for the delivery of IT services while Hakl oversees sales, as well as development of IT solutions.

According to Artz, his team's major projects right now include completing a migration for a large educational institution that combines IT and network services, providing major IT transition services from Verizon to another telecommunications company supporting one of ESG's largest clients with help desk services, and working with a large auto manufacturer on a next-generation IT services platform. Additionally, several expansions of existing customer services are under way.

Artz brings to his assignment more than 30 years of experience in leading Verizon and the former Bell Atlantic internal and external IT solution teams. His experience spans a broad range of functional areas including strategic application and system software development, planning, data warehousing, long-distance, security, network and data center solutions. Artz also has been a key contributor and IT partner to the retail, enterprise, wholesale and advanced services lines of business within Verizon, and he has led several organizations in obtaining both SEI/CMM and ISO certifications.

He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in business management from Columbia Union College.
