NEW YORK, September 21, 2000 - Verizon Online now offers consumers in markets across the country a Web-based e-mail service powered by Mail.com, Inc., (NASDAQ: MAIL), a leading global Messaging Service Provider for businesses and end users. Verizon Online is the online division of Verizon Communications, the national telecommunications company formed by the merger of GTE and Bell Atlantic (NYSE: VZ). The partnership brings together Mail.com's reliable, feature-rich and scalable WebMail architecture and Verizon's state-of-the-art telecommunications network, to provide consumers access to e-mail anytime, anywhere online.

The Verizon Mail service offers a feature-rich, reliable e-mailbox with a "@VerizonMail.com" address.
