President Barack Obama announced today his intent to nominate former Commerce Department official Meredith Attwell Baker to serve on the Federal Communications Commission. The following is a statement by Susanne Guyer, Verizon senior vice president of federal regulatory affairs, on the expected nomination:
"This is yet another smart nomination. Meredith Attwell Baker has the experience and qualifications to be a very effective commissioner. At this crucial time for broadband investment, jobs and the economy, there needs to be a full team of commissioners in place. So we hope Congress will act quickly to approve the nominees."
