To satisfy the growing broadband needs of consumers and businesses in Azle, Reno and Springtown, Verizon is on track to offer its High Speed Internet (HSI) service early this fall, allowing eligible consumers to make the broadband connections that are important to them.
The company is scheduled to complete its network upgrades by late September, including the installation of new equipment at several of its switching-center locations. Verizon's High Speed Internet service, delivered over digital subscriber line (DSL) technology, will then be initially available to more than 7,500 households across the three North Texas towns.
"High-speed Internet service is important to Azle, Reno and Springtown consumers and businesses, and Verizon is working to bring it to as many of them as possible," said Carl Erhart, president of Verizon's Central region. "Verizon's High Speed Internet service will offer a choice of fast speeds, affordable pricing and a multitude of services, backed by the reliability of the Verizon network."
Verizon has been working closely with local and state officials since 2008 to develop a plan to roll out its High Speed Internet service to the three towns. Springtown Mayor Doug Hughes and Councilman Tom Clayton as well as State Rep. Phil King have been involved in these discussions from the outset.
King, who represents Parker and Wise counties, said: "Verizon has been very responsive to our request that the company consider the business case for providing high-speed service to these communities. I think this deployment will be one more tool to spur economic development in this area of Parker County."
Verizon High Speed Internet service is the company's most popular and most widely available broadband data service, available to more than 25 million households in parts of 24 states and the District of Columbia. Verizon customers in Azle, Reno and Springtown whose homes or businesses are located within approximately three miles of the nearest DSL-equipped Verizon switching office will be eligible for High Speed Internet service.
According to PC Magazine's 2008 readers' survey, Verizon High Speed Internet beat the average cable provider's score in reliability, the likelihood of a customer choosing an Internet service provider, as well as the associated costs and fees for the service.
