Verizon Wireless Acquires Operation in Central Ohio

BEDMINSTER, NJ (October 20, 2000) - Verizon Wireless today announced it has acquired the wireless operating license formerly owned by Cel-Tel Communications of Ohio, Ltd. covering the counties of Hancock, Hardin, Wyandot, Crawford and Marion. The primary markets served by the business are Findlay, Marion, Bucyrus and Galion, with a total population of about 236,000. Adjacent markets include Columbus and Toledo. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Through a previous operating agreement, Cel-Tel Communications customers have already been served under the Verizon Wireless brand. The headquarters for the Verizon Wireless Ohio Region is in Dublin.
