Verizon Wireless, the nation's largest wireless service provider, has expanded its national high-speed wireless data network to include Fresno, Bakersfield and the counties of San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara.

"With the freedom and flexibility that Express Network service affords, being out of the office no longer means being out of the loop. Express Network is about increased speed and productivity when traveling; there are no worries about finding a phone jack or fears about missing an important email from a customer or not having access to important files," said Tony Simpson, regional president of Verizon Wireless.

Verizon Wireless maintains a commanding lead in the high-speed wireless data arena with Express NetworkSM service now available in over 800 cities, from Hawaii to Maine. With average data transmission speeds between 40 and 60 kilobits per second (kbps) - and bursts up to 144 kbps - customers will experience speeds similar to or better than dialing in from their home PC.

For a limited time only, Verizon Wireless customers in all Express Network cities coast to coast can take advantage of the company's new Get Start Package. The package is available until September 30 and includes one-month access free - a $99.99 value - and mail-in rebates on select wireless data equipment, for total savings of up to $149.99.

Specifically, through September 30, customers taking advantage of the Get Start Package will receive a $20 instant rebate on the Mobile Office connectivity kit, which is used to connect Express Network-capable phones to laptops. For customers who prefer to use a PC card in conjunction with their laptop or PDA in order to connect to the Express Network, the AirCard 555 from Sierra Wireless comes with a $50 mail-in rebate good until September 30 when they sign up for a one- or two-year agreement.
