Verizon Wireless Expands Network Capacity, Enhances Service In Salisbury, Maryland With New Cell Site

January 16, 2002

Verizon Wireless has placed a new cell site east of Salisbury, Maryland, near Route 50, to boost signal coverage and add capacity to the company's extensive digital wireless network. The site will deliver the most advanced wireless voice and data services to customers.

For customers, the addition of this new cell site translates into fewer busy signals and fewer dropped calls. "With this addition to our wireless network, we're providing our local business and consumer customers with the technology and capabilities they've been asking for," said Patrick Devlin, president of Verizon Wireless' Washington/Baltimore/Virginia region.

Customer growth, greater usage due to high value pricing like SingleRateSM national and regional calling plans, and the popularity of its Mobile Web wireless Internet services are driving the local demand for the company's wireless services. Staying ahead of the wireless growth curve requires
continuing network expansion and enhancements.

Verizon Wireless invested more than $200 million in its network in the Washington-Baltimore-Virginia region in 2001 as part of the company's nationwide $4 billion network improvement program to offer customers service on the most extensive wireless network in the U.S.
