Verizon Wireless Expands Service Coverage in Belmont and Auburndale

November 9, 2001

Verizon Wireless has expanded service coverage in Queens with a new cell site in Belmont and one in Auburndale.

"The new cell sites will provide customers who live in and travel through these areas with greater wireless network coverage and increased clarity when making wireless calls," said Heidi Hemmer, Verizon Wireless Director of Engineering in metropolitan New York.

The site in Belmont improves service west of Queens Village on Routes 25 and 25B, Springfield Avenue and Grand Central Parkway.

The Auburndale site enhances wireless calling on Francis Lewis Boulevard, the Clearview Expressway and Utopia Parkway.

The new sites are part of a $4 billion investment program this year to improve and extend the reach of the Verizon Wireless nationwide network. More than $300 million of that investment is being used to stay ahead of the growing demand for Verizon Wireless products and services in the New York Metro area.
