Verizon Wireless, the nation's largest wireless provider, has expanded service coverage in Hudson County with a new cell site in Jersey City and one in Secaucus.

"The new cell sites will provide customers who live in and travel through the area with greater wireless network coverage and increased clarity when making wireless calls," said Michele White, Verizon Wireless Director of Engineering in northern New Jersey.

The Jersey City site improves service on sections of Summit Avenue, Central Avenue, Palisades Avenue and Paterson Plank Road.

The new site in Secaucus enhances service on the NJ Turnpike near exits 16E and 17, on Route 3, Route 495 and Routes 1 and 9.

The new sites are part of a $4 billion investment program in 2001 to improve and extend the reach of the Verizon Wireless nationwide network, the largest in the U.S. More than $300 million of that investment was used to stay ahead of the growing demand for Verizon Wireless products and services in the New York Metro area.
