When *NSYNC, one of today's most popular musical acts, comes to Comerica Park on Friday, June 29, and Saturday, June 30, there will be some very special fans in the audience. Thanks to Verizon Wireless, co-sponsor of the *NSYNC 2001 POPODYSSEY TOUR, and the FOX 2 News Problem Solvers, more than 40 underprivileged children from metro Detroit will have an opportunity to dance and sing along live with Lance, Chris, Joey, Justin and JC.

Verizon Wireless and the FOX 2 News Problem Solvers teamed up to identify more than 40 youngsters in the metro Detroit area to attend *NSYNC's Comerica Park concert stop. Together with United Way Community Services, Verizon Wireless and the FOX 2 News Problem Solvers selected children from People's Community Services of Metropolitan Detroit (PCS), the St. Vincent and Sarah Fisher Center and Focus:HOPE to be in the audience on either Friday or Saturday night. Not only will the kids attend the show, they will ride to and from the concert in limousines provided courtesy of Diamond Touch Limousines, and they will receive a special souvenir to commemorate their day at the *NSYNC concert. Additionally, eight of these lucky fans will be admitted to the sound check held Saturday afternoon at Comerica Park.

"Sponsoring the *NSYNC 2001 POPODYSSEY gives Verizon Wireless a unique opportunity to reach out to the communities we serve. By donating tickets to organizations like People's Community Services of Metropolitan Detroit, the St. Vincent and Sarah Fisher Center and Focus:HOPE in metro Detroit - and other groups around the country - we can bring this popular group of entertainers to young people who otherwise might not have had the opportunity to attend a concert like this one," said Wayne White, president, Verizon Wireless - Michigan region.

"This concert is an amazing opportunity for the young people in foster care," said Rebecca Moss, community relations coordinator for the St. Vincent and Sarah Fisher Center. "These individuals have had a lot of disappointments in their lives. This is a special treat for them and their foster parents. They are all very excited. "

The St. Vincent and Sarah Fisher Center, located in Farmington Hills, provides care for infants, children and teens with traumatic backgrounds. United Way-supported agencies serve youth, families under stress, the handicapped, the unemployed and the hungry and homeless.

"We'd like to thank Verizon Wireless and the FOX 2 News Problem Solvers for thinking of our youth. Because of their situations, these kids really would not be able to go to any concert, let alone a concert like this. In some ways, this really is a dream come true for them,"p; said Thomas Cervenak, Executive Director of PCS.

PCS provides social work services to the neighborhoods of southwest Detroit and Hamtramck. Their emphasis is on direct services to individuals, groups and neighborhood organizations.

Focus:HOPE is a civil and human rights organization that seeks to eliminate poverty, hunger and racial discrimination through community education, technology training and social service programs.

The *NSYNC 2001 POPODYSSEY TOUR, a 38-city, 45-concert tour, which promotes the group's new album "Celebrity," kicked off on May 23 in Jacksonville, FL and concludes August 24 in Jackson, MS.
