July 5, 2000-IRVINE, California-

In response to the increasing popularity of flat-rate, national wireless service, Verizon Wireless, formerly known as AirTouch Cellular, today announced a new 2,000-minute option to its SingleRate price plans for Southern California customers. The new plan, priced at $200 per month, is the sixth in a family of plans that begin as low as $35 per month for 150 minutes of coast-to-coast wireless calling with no long-distance or roaming charges.

Demand for SingleRate service - a popular choice for business travelers - accelerated when the company unveiled the new family of plans in concert with the launch of Verizon Wireless in April.

"SingleRate is the best all-inclusive national pricing plan available for customers who demand local calling across a national footprint," said Mike Finley, regional president -Southern California. "With SingleRate 2000, mobile customers who depend heavily on wireless service to keep their lives and businesses on track can travel the United States and achieve even greater savings while relying on Verizon Wireless' superior coast-to-coast network."

SingleRate is conveniently available at 81 Verizon Wireless Stores and at 489 local retailers and authorized agents in the five-county, greater Los Angeles area and San Diego County.
