In response to growing demand for its wireless communications products and services, Verizon Wireless has opened its newest retail store at 480 Center Street N.E., in the Salem Center. The Communications Store features a wide variety of wireless products and services, including a premier line of price plans, digital wireless phones, data products and hands-free calling accessories. All products and services are backed by the Verizon Wireless Worry Free GuaranteeSM -- a promise of satisfaction on all wireless equipment -- and the option to change plans if customers are not satisfied, without paying penalties or fees.

As part of the Grand Opening Celebration, customers will receive a special promotional offer of 250 additional minutes on their first month of service when they sign up for any DigitalChoice service plan (not available on FamilyShare Plans) on Saturday or Sunday, June 23 and 24. In addition, any customer activating a new line of service during the weekend celebration will receive a free poster of the band *NSYNC . Verizon Wireless is co-sponsoring the *NSYNC 2001 POPODYSSEY Tour throughout the U.S. this summer in an effort to reach out to the youth market and their parents. Concerts in the west are scheduled in Denver, San Diego, Phoenix, Oakland, Pasadena, CA and Las Vegas.

Refreshments and giveaways will be available throughout the weekend. For the youngsters, Verizon Wireless "PhoneMan" will make a special appearance on Saturday, June 23.

In addition to opening the new store, Verizon Wireless is making a major investment in the network that supports wireless communications in the region.

"We're investing more than $35 million in our Oregon network this year," said Kelley Kurtzman, president of Verizon Wireless' Pacific Northwest Region. "This effort to build on the quality and coverage of our network, coupled with the opening of new Verizon Wireless Communications stores and kiosks throughout the Northwest, provides Oregonians numerous convenient locations to shop for Verizon Wireless' superior network service and variety of service plans."

Matt Kofron is Manager of the Salem Center Communications Store. The new retail location is open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday through Friday; 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday.

Verizon Wireless, the nation's largest wireless provider, has 33 Communications Stores and Kiosks in the Pacific Northwest and 1,400 retail stores nationwide.
