FiOS1, Channel 1 on Verizon's FiOS TV, in partnership with NJ.com/Star-Ledger, will air on Saturday (March 12) the championship matchup between the country's two top high school basketball teams -- No.1 St. Patrick of Elizabeth and No. 2 St. Anthony of Jersey City.  The game, for the New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association (NJSIAA) New Jersey, Non-Public North B title, will be played Wednesday evening (March 9).

FiOS1 also will air on Saturday Wednesday evening's NJSIAA New Jersey, Non-Public North A title game between Seton Hall Prep of West Orange and St. Peter's Prep of Jersey City, with coverage beginning at 2:30 p.m.  Coverage of the St. Patrick-St. Anthony game will begin at 7:30 p.m.  The Saturday broadcasts will be available exclusively to all Verizon FiOS TV viewers in central and northern New Jersey.

"FiOS1 will allow fans of high school basketball to relive the biggest games of the year between these exceptional teams," said Orlando Martinez, FiOS1's director of local sports programming.  "Bringing exclusive high school sports programming like this on FiOS1 to our FiOS TV customers is a good example of why our customers continue to enjoy a broad range of programming choices and superior picture quality they can only get from a provider like Verizon."

Bob Provost, director of marketing for the Star-Ledger, said, "We're thrilled to partner with Verizon FiOS1 in order to showcase these talented New Jersey teams on television. We are equally excited that, working with FiOS1, we also plan to stream the [St. Patrick-St. Anthony] game live Wednesday, March 9, at 8 p.m. on www.NJ.com to high school basketball fans from across the country."

Steven Timko, executive director, NJSIAA, said, "This is a game every basketball fan in the state will be wanting to see.  It will match two outstanding coaches and two of the nation's best teams.  It is a rare matchup of the top two teams in the state also being ranked one and two in the country."

FiOS1 is part of FiOS TV's broad collection of programming, featuring more than 520 all-digital channels including up to 138 HD channels and 19,000 monthly video-on-demand titles.  FiOS also provides next-generation interactive services including an advanced interactive media guide; social networking, news and entertainment widgets; remote DVR management via broadband or cell phone; and more.
