Verizon's FiOS1 News teams in New York and New Jersey are getting ready to bring viewers in both states the most informative, compelling and late-breaking results, as they happen, on Election Day. Verizon's FIOS1 New Jersey and FiOS1 Long Island aim to be the source of in-depth political coverage between now and Tuesday (Nov. 3), when voters go to the polls.

With reporters and editors from The Record (North Jersey Media Group) as its media partner in New Jersey, FiOS1's Election Watch 2009 will offer comprehensive news reports along with thought-provoking analysis and commentary.

Among the highlights:

  • Comprehensive coverage of all major races in New York and New Jersey, and highlights from around the nation.
  • FiOS1 reporters will do live reports at campaign headquarters throughout the region to cover the races for New Jersey governor, New York City mayor and Nassau County executive.
  • Coverage will include real-time polling updates throughout the night; expert analysis from FiOS1 anchors; in-studio guests; and top journalists from The Record reporting from their newsroom in Bergen County, N.J.
"FiOS1 is offering New Jersey and Long Island viewers an opportunity to get involved and stay informed in the 2009 election process," said Michelle Webb, Verizon's general manager and chief programming officer, FiOS1 local channels.  "We've assembled a great team of reporters, anchors and analysts who will offer viewers the best news and analysis of all that's happening between now and Nov. 3."

Viewers on Long Island and in North Jersey are encouraged to be a part of the process by telephoning or e-mailing their comments and suggestions.  The FiOS1 e-mail address is newsdesk@Fios1news.com.  The FiOS1 election night hotline is 888-766-2428.  In addition, viewers are welcome to call FiOS1 with tips, comments and suggestions at 877-FIOS1-LI (877-346-7154) on Long Island and 877-NJ-FIOS1 (877-653-4671) in New Jersey.
