Wireless Safety Week Marks Launch Of Verizon Wireless Hands-Free Online Deal

Complimentary Hands Free Combo Plus Free Shipping Encourages Consumers to Keep Their Hands on the Wheel

May 22, 2001

BEDMINSTER, NJ

-

Verizon Wireless, the nation's largest wireless service provider, is launching an exclusive offer to online shoppers highlighting its continued commitment to responsible driving initiatives.

During National Wireless Safety Week, May 21st - 28th, and continuing until July 13, 2001, customers who make a qualifying purchase will receive a Hands Free Combo Kit at no additional charge and free shipping from the Verizon Wireless Online Store (www.verizonwireless.com). Verizon Wireless leads the industry in promoting responsible driving and, with this promotion, is reinforcing its commitment to increase the availability, affordability and awareness of hands-free technologies to help drivers keep both hands on the wheel.

Customers who purchase any one of seven qualifying digital handsets and a service plan starting at $29.99 from the Verizon Wireless Online Store will receive the hands-free kit retailing at $49.99 at no additional charge as well as free shipping. The hands-free kit includes a Jabra headset, vehicle power adapter and a belt clip.

"We strongly encourage our customers who talk and drive to do so using a hands-free device, which allows them to keep both hands on the wheel and their focus on the task at hand - driving," said John Stratton, vice president and chief marketing officer for Verizon Wireless. "Once they make a habit of using these devices in the car, our customers may also find that it's convenient to use hands-free whenever they're on their wireless phone - walking through the airport, while taking notes, or folding the laundry."
