The Argus Leader shares news about Verizon's 4G LTE network expansion in the Sioux Falls area in South Dakota.

Today, Verizon Wireless will expand its 4G network north of Sioux Falls.

The move will provide customers in Arlington, Aurora, Brookings, Madison and Volga faster speeds when downloading items such as music and using the Internet on their phones, officials say.

Last year in the Sioux Falls and Rapid City areas, Verizon launched its 4G network. It expanded that area to Pierre and Fort Pierre in April, and Mitchell, Kimball, Pukwana, Chamberlain, Draper, Mount Vernon, Murdo, Plankinton, Vivian and White Lake in May.

The recent expansion is the company’s next step in its plan to have 4G in all its coverage areas in South Dakota and across the nation by 2013, said Verizon spokeswoman Karen Smith. The company began its 4G roll out in 2010.
