Need a T-shirt, sweatshirt or bathing suit when you arrive at Ocean Beach on Fire Island?  Go to The Flair House….it’s a no brainer.

Located just steps from the ferry terminal on Bay Walk, The Flair House has been in business for 68 amazing years selling all sorts of surf wear.  Owner Kurt Smith took over the business from his dad, and he said he’d like to someday hand the business over to his (now) 15 month-old-son.  Here’s a short video you can check out yourself.

This week, showing our support for Fire Island businesses and as part of our #OpenForBiz series, we’re featuring a few small businesses on the Island that have weathered the storm – Superstorm Sandy, that is – and have come back better than ever and are open for business in the summer of ’13.

Earlier this week, we featured Rachel’s Bakery and Restaurant, located just across the street from The Flair House in Ocean Beach.

After making it through Hurricane Sandy, Rachel’s and The Flair House are now back up and open for business for all beach goers on Fire Island. Check back here for some other Fire Island businesses that we will be featuring during this #SmallBizWeek.
