Verizon Enterprise Solutions and SYNNEX Corporation recently announced a value added distributor agreement which made Verizon’s Rapid Response Retainer security solution available to SYNNEX’s network of technology service providers and value added resellers. This new model allows Verizon technology to be wrapped around SYNNEX’s valued solutions, offering a complete IT services package that resellers can position to end customers.
We met with Tim Acker, vice president of mobility and connected solutions for SYNNEX at Channel Partners Conference & Expo last month to discuss the news, what’s important to their partners and customers and what trends he sees impacting the technology market in the next 12 months.
Q: Can you talk a little about the value added distributor agreement you recently finalized with Verizon and why it’s important to your network of partners?
A: We’re excited to have this opportunity. We have a long-standing relationship with Verizon as a member of the Verizon Partner Program. Their technology offerings align with ours – mobility, network, cloud, security, and advanced communications.
The value-added distributor opportunity was great for our channel. It takes a service that is top of mind for nearly every company now – security – and let’s our resellers leverage Verizon’s experience, expertise and global reach in providing a comprehensive security solution. Our partners bundle Verizon’s Rapid Response Retainer with other security solutions (monitoring, firewall, etc.) to address the depth and breadth of their clients’ security needs. We’ve seen a lot of interest already, across a variety of industries and vertical segments.
Q: What are your partners and their customers looking for from a technology standpoint right now? Have their expectations changed?
A: From a technology standpoint, it’s a number of things. We continue to have a healthy mobility practice and that mobility success is opening the door for IP services, including private IP network, Rapid Response Retainer, data and infrastructure technologies.
As for client expectations, they are looking for agent and traditional services providers to present them with complete, integrated solutions that help them drive IT and business transformation. It’s not just about a phone upgrade or moving one application to the cloud. They are thinking about complete transformation, to improve the user experience. They want the service provider to design and architect a complete solution for them. That’s a value add for us. We play in the voice space. We play in data and networking. We play in security. We play in mobility. This changes the conversation from an IT solution, to a digital transformation solution. A customer experience solution. That’s making a business outcome impact for the customer.
Q: What’s next? Where will the focus be for the rest of this year and into next year?
A: We’re seeing the steady rise of the Internet of Things (IoT). A number of practical applications have already been deployed. It’s having a real impact in our agent and reseller business and so we’re helping them bring these types of solutions to this space. Again, it’s more than mobility. It’s about how do I layer in all the pieces of the solution – bandwidth, cloud, data analytics, etc. Verizon’s ThingSpace platform is helping the customer innovate. I think this is a natural evolution for our agents and partners.
