CLEVELAND, OH — In honor of Wireless Safety Week, beginning Monday, May 21, Verizon Wireless and Sunnyside Automotive Group will sponsor a safe driving campaign that will last through Memorial Day.

Sunnyside Automotive Group is comprised of five local dealerships including Saturn of Middleburg Heights, Sunnyside Honda and Sunnyside Audi/Porsche in Middleburg Heights, and Saturn of North Olmsted and Sunnyside Toyota in North Olmsted.

The campaign includes of the following components:

  • Verizon Wireless and the Sunnyside Automotive Group invite the public to stop in and test drive a vehicle at any of the dealership's five locations and receive a Driver's Safety Kit including a universal "earbud" for hands-free wireless use, a map of Ohio and other useful items to have on-hand in the car.

Verizon Wireless, the nation's largest wireless company, supports statewide legislation that requires drivers to use hands-free devices while talking on their wireless phones. "It's the right thing to do," says Roger Tang, president - Pennsylvania/West Virginia/Ohio region, Verizon Wireless. "A driver's first responsibility to drive safely. Verizon Wireless believes that the use of a hands-free device, which enables the driver to keep both hands on the wheel, increases the safety of our streets and highways. Locally, we are proud to work with Sunnyside Automotive Group in getting our responsible message out to the public."

Verizon Wireless, The Cellular Telecommunications & Internet Association (CTIA) and wireless carriers across the country have sponsored Wireless Safety Week each year since 1990 to focus attention on the important issue of safety.
