NEW YORK, NY — Verizon Wireless has expanded service coverage in Nassau County with a new cell site in Hempstead and one in East Hills.
"The new cell sites will provide customers who live in and travel through these areas with greater wireless network coverage and increased clarity when making wireless calls," said Heidi Hemmer, Verizon Wireless Director of Engineering in metropolitan New York.
The site in Hempstead improves service on sections of Hempstead Turnpike, Fulton Street, Front Street, Franklin Avenue and Peninsula Boulevard.
The East Hills site enhances wireless calling on Glen Cove Road between the Long Island Expressway and Northern Boulevard.
The new sites are part of a $4 billion investment program this year to improve and extend the reach of the Verizon Wireless nationwide network. More than $300 million of that investment is being used to stay ahead of the growing demand for Verizon Wireless products and services in the New York Metro area.
