NEW YORK, NY and BEDMINSTER, NJ — ScreamingMedia (NASDAQ: SCRM) and Verizon Wireless announce an agreement to provide Verizon Wireless' digital Mobile MessengerSM customers with access to current information, powered by ScreamingMedia. Through a technology integration, ScreamingMedia is providing filtered third-party content and data to Verizon Wireless' text messaging service Web site, vtext.com, which was launched on November 15, 2001 and available to new and existing customers.

Through www.vtext.com, Verizon Wireless customers can sign up to have information alerts from select providers, such as Red Herring and NYSE, sent to their wireless phone. For a nominal charge of $.02 each, customers can receive alerts on a wide array of subjects including national and international news; business, finance and technology news; and updates on entertainment, sports, travel, health and wellness and more in an SMS-ready format, custom-filtered to their needs.

ScreamingMedia has integrated its SiteWare™ software application into Verizon Wireless' platform where it aggregates and filters SMS-ready third-party content from ScreamingMedia's global digital content network. ScreamingMedia will deliver and integrate all the data to Verizon Wireless' vtext.com service. Additionally, ScreamingMedia's flexible filtering and publishing technology can easily scale to meet the changing needs of Verizon Wireless and its customers.
