ORANGEBURG, NY — Verizon Wireless has expanded service coverage in Manhattan with three new cell sites.
"The new cell sites will provide customers who live in and travel through these areas with greater wireless network coverage and increased clarity when making wireless calls," said Heidi Hemmer, Verizon Wireless Director of Engineering in metropolitan New York.
One site improves service in the vicinity of Allen and Delancey Streets. A second enhances wireless calling on Park Avenue from 18th to 26th Streets and on East 23rd Street from Third Avenue to Fifth Avenue. A new site in midtown improves wireless coverage on Columbus Avenue from 70th to 82nd Streets and on 77th Street from Amsterdam Avenue to Central Park West.
The company has invested more than $8 billion during the past two years to improve and extend the reach of the Verizon Wireless nationwide network, the largest in the U.S. More than $300 million of that investment was used last year to stay ahead of the growing demand for Verizon Wireless products and services in the New York Metro area.
