NEW ORLEANS, LA — Why wait until February to celebrate Mardi Gras? Well, this year you don't have to! Head to Zephyr Field, and laissez les bon temps rouler! (That's French for 'Let the good times roll!') On Saturday, August 3, fans revelers of every age will enjoy a fun-filled evening at the Verizon Wireless Mardi Gras Night event at Zephyr Field.

"We believe that every night at Zephyr Field is a festive, party-like atmosphere complete with exciting baseball action," Mickey Triche, Zephyrs director of marketing said. "And that will truly be the case on August 3. We've got special Mardi Gras baseball caps free for the first 2,500 paid fans, a Mardi Gras costume contest and, after the game, kick back and watch Bobby Cure and the Summertime Blues in concert. It's the best entertainment value in town. "

Verizon Wireless Mardi Gras Night includes:

  • The 6:05 p.m. baseball game between the New Orleans Zephyrs and the Fresno Grizzlies
  • Mardi Gras Costume Contest with the winner receiving two round-trip tickets on Southwest Airlines
  • Post-game concert series featuring Bobby Cure and The Summertime Blues
  • Dizzy bat race, river race, fast-pitch and trivia contests, Frisbee tosses, appearances by Zephyr mascots Boudreaux and Clotile and much more.
