BEDMINSTER, NJ — Verizon Wireless, the nation's largest wireless provider, today announced it will sponsor the Lollapalooza 2003 Concert Tour. The tour, featuring some of the most popular alternative bands, returns after a six-year hiatus, with the addition of exciting interactive Verizon Wireless technology.

Verizon Wireless will be on site with TXT Messaging contests, giveaways and interactive wireless demos to keep fans connected throughout the festival and entertained between acts. Customers can take advantage of TXT alerts and chats, and participate in contests to win concert ticket upgrades and backstage passes the day of the festival.

Lollapalooza 2003, the nationwide 30-show tour, begins July 5, 2003 in Indianapolis, Indiana and features Jane's Addition, Audioslave, Incubus, Queens of the Stone Age, Jurassic 5, The Donnas, A Perfect Circle, and The Distillers. Verizon Wireless customers with a monthly calling plan and [FREEUP] prepay customers can get psyched before the show by visiting www.verizonwireless.com/lollapalooza to chat with other music fans and sign up to receive TXT alerts and trivia questions.

Verizon Wireless TXT Messaging customers can pay as they go for $0.02 for each message received and $0.10 for each message sent, or select from bundled plans for $2.99 monthly access for 100 messages, $3.99 monthly access for 200 messages and $7.99 monthly access for 600 messages sent or received. Verizon Wireless [FREEUP] customers with text messaging-capable phones can send and receive messages for just $0.05 each.

At each show, Verizon Wireless will feature TXT Messaging games, polls, quizzes and group TXT chat; giveaways, prizes and demonstrations of the latest in wireless technology - for both monthly calling service and [FREEUP] prepay wireless service. Before or after the show, customers with Get It Now(SM)-capable phones can download ring tones of their favorite bands from GET TONES. Check out the Modtones covers of "Nice to Know You" by Incubus and "Who Invited You" by The Donnas. Get It Now, a virtual store for TXT Messaging, games, information services, pictures and more, offers everything a music fan could want from a wireless phone.

Download charges for Get It Now applications vary and airtime charges apply when browsing, downloading and using certain applications. Customers need a Get It Now-enabled handset and Verizon Wireless digital service to access the Get It Now virtual store.
